Punter’s Quote Book
The Punting quote book was a personal project I did as a leaving present to everyone at Punting on the Avon where I previously worked. At the start of the summer, we created a quote book of random things everyone said. All the quotes were handwritten and a bit messy so I wanted to design it into an actual book.
Photo of the boat sheds and punt boats that I based the Punting quote book off
Punting is a method of propelling a flat-bottomed boat, known as a punt, through shallow water by using a long pole called a quant. Punting originally started in the UK during the 1800s. So the style and aesthetic is Victorian and Edwardian. This is the same style as the Antigua boat sheds which is where Punting on the Avon operates from. The boat sheds are green and white striped with pops of red and the punt boats are also green and red as well. So this was the aesthetic and colour palette I used in the booklet.
I kept everything consistent throughout the booklet. Using white as the frames for the pictures and yellow boxes with green frames for the quotes. The framing is based on the framing for the signs around the boat sheds.
(Warning most of these quotes are questionable)
